$1,000 Redefining Family Scholarship – Law Office of Peter Tuann

At the Law Office of Peter Tuann, we believe the law should reflect the evolving realities of the families it serves. From single-parent homes and blended families to multigenerational households and same-sex parents, the 21st-century family is diverse, resilient, and ever-changing.

We proudly offer the $1,000 Redefining Family Scholarship to support students passionate about family law, equity, and social justice. This opportunity invites applicants to reflect on the changing meaning of “home” and propose how laws and policies can evolve to support all family structures.

Essay Topic: Redefining Family — The Evolving Meaning of Home in the 21st Century

Family is no longer a one-size-fits-all concept. In your 1,000-word essay, explore how modern family dynamics—blended households, single-parent families, same-sex parents, or non-traditional guardianship—challenge the legal and cultural norms defining “home.” How should the law adapt to protect and recognize these families?

We encourage well-researched, original, compassionate essays grounded in data, personal insight, or both.
